Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions clients ask most.

If your question isn't covered here, please contact the firm and we'll be glad to help.

Do you charge for consultations?

No. We do not charge for an initial consultation, regardless of the case or its complexity.

Do you charge a set fee or an hourly fee?

The fee structure is set after the initial consultation, once we understand the specifics of your matter. Some cases are better handled on a flat fee and others on an hourly basis — this is determined case by case and discussed up front.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by contacting an attorney directly or by reaching out to our paralegal or legal assistants if an attorney is not immediately available. Contact details for our team are on the Contact page.

What areas of law do you handle?

Our practice focuses on real estate law, probate and estate planning, civil litigation, landlord-tenant law, business and commercial law, banking law, and debt collections. If your matter is outside these areas, we are usually able to refer you to a trusted colleague.

What should I bring to my consultation?

Any documents related to the matter will be helpful — contracts, correspondence, court papers, deeds, or wills as applicable. If you are not sure, bring what you have and we will work from there.

Do you serve clients outside Carter County?

Yes. While our office is in Elizabethton, we routinely represent clients across northeast Tennessee and handle matters in surrounding counties.
